HIGHLY regarded import Marques Whippy has arrived in Queensland and will line up for the Spartans against North-West Tasmania tonight.
WHIPPING THE SPARTANS INTO SHAPE: New Spartans import Marques Whippy will play for Brisbane in tonight's clash against the North-West Thunder."He will probably be in the starting line-up," coach Rob Scheibner said.
"I'm pretty confident he will fit in just beautifully in there (with the Spartans)."
The calvary is also coming for the struggling Thunder who are set to announce former mainstays Ben Armstrong and Michael Rowlands are coming back from retirement.
But the duo are at extremely long odds to suit up tonight against the Spartans, with a round seven return against Geelong and Nunawading more likely.
Reports circling that Gold Coast Blaze forward Anthony Petrie is set to play for Brisbane tonight are also off the mark.
The powerful big man had ankle surgery during the week to clean up niggles from a rigorous NBL campaign and has yet to officially confirm he will play SEABL this season.
Livewire guard Jason Cadee has also expressed interest in joining the club.
Cairns Taipan Dean Brebner will miss tonight's clash due to personal commitments with Josh Derksen to take his place in the roster after an early season cameo.
Tonight is likely to be Derksen's last game before returning to the AIS program.
Tip-off on Friday is 5.30pm for the women and 7.15pm for the men.
